Pet Fostering

Did you know that pets are often used as a tool within domestic abuse, and can be a barrier for someone escaping an abusive relationship? Sadly, research shows there is a link between abuse to animals and abuse to people, with many perpetrators exploiting the bond that we have with our animals as a tool for abuse.

When leaving an abusive relationship an important factor is our pets and their safety. Often refuge or temporary accommodation won’t allow pets. However there are organisations that can help care for  pets temporarily, so it’s one less thing to worry about.

Refuge4PetsCats Protection Paws ProtectDogs Trust Freedom Project, and Endeavour all offer specialist pet fostering services for people fleeing domestic abuse.
